All experience-levels and abilities welcome! Ages 8 (2nd grade) and up

Audition Information

(5 minutes)

1. Please go to this webpage and select at least 2 roles that you would like to audition for!

2. Review the "Script" for each of your desired roles...In your audition you will do the reading for one (or more) of your desired roles!

3. Select 1 (one) role that you will sing for in your audition. (NOTE - it can be the same role as one of the roles you are reading for but it doesn't have to be either) 

4. Practice the song with the music tracks (see the webpage links)

5. NO OTHER AUDITION SONGS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR AUDITIONS! PICK ONE OF THE SONGS FROM THE WEBPAGE LINK ABOVE!

Sides for Auditions

If you have practiced/memorized a particular side you can TELL US in auditions and read from what you have practiced. (Hint, Hint….you should click on these sides below and practice some of them BEFORE YOUR AUDITION!)

If you are serious about a particular few roles, we strongly encourage you to come prepared with having the sides memorized. It is not required, but it helps you stand out in a big way.

How do we evaluate the initial Audition?

Great question! Here is the form that we use (we video-record all auditions so that we can look back on them as well).

CALL BACKS (later the same day as auditions) EVERYONE is invited to callbacks

PART 1 - EVERYONE IS INVITED TO RETURN TO CALL BACKS

Singing specific songs from The Little Mermaid Jr. with other auditioning students

The Music Director will have you sing for one or more roles using music from the actual show. The Audition Music that we will use will be songs from the show. We encourage you to become familiar with the songs from the musical - (see this webpage link for access to this music!)

PART 2

Dance Audition

The Choreographer will take you through a basic routine and then you will perform it on your own in a group setting.

PART 3

Paired Readings and Singing

There will be additional readings with various cast member combinations. We will also have actors do some additional improvisation/acting to get a sense of the best possible role for them, as well as do some various pairing for readings and singing.

Auditions - Offering & Acceptance of Roles

1. Offering of roles

1. We will contact families and cast members via email to offer them various roles in the show, and provide some more information about the role.

2. Accepting/Declining of Roles

   Families will be contacted via email with the role(s) their child has been offered. This email has links to formally accept or decline the role. Typically 24 hours to accept/reject their role, at which time we will make additional casting/role calls/decisions and continue until all the roles are filled.

Audition Sign-Ups

D39 auditions will be held Monday, December 2nd from 3:30pm-5:45pm. Once these audition times fill up, we will take video auditions no later than Sunday, December 1st sent to coordinator@musicpillars.com. All video audition students SHOULD attend callbacks.

D39 Call backs will be held on December 2nd from 6pm - 730pm.

Thursday Auditions will be held on Thursday December 5th from 2pm - 4pm. Nearly all of the Elementary Schools in 92127 have an Early-Release Thursday. So our Thursday cast exists to help fill that early release time with the wonderful enrichment of Musical Theatre! Once these audition times fill up, we will take video auditions no later than December 1st sent to coordinator@musicpillars.com. Video audition students SHOULD ATTEND CALLBACKS!
